# How is my personal information secured with COS website?
To safeguard your personal information COS uses the single sign-on authentication method to provide a convenient and secure way to access the platform.
Here is how your personal information is protected:
- **Encryption: ** All data transmitted between your device and the COS website is encrypted using industry standard encryption protocols. This ensures your personal and payment information is protected from unauthorised parties.
- **Authentication:** Single sign-on uses multi-factor authentication to verify your identity. In addition to your password you need to provide another form of verification such as, the One Time Password (OTP) sent on your device, to ensure you are the rightful account holder.
- **Cookie Security: **Cookies used in the single sign-on authentication method are often session cookies which are temporary and expire when you log out or close your browser. This means the cookies contain minimal information are not stored for long-term on your device.
